Right Angle Cross of Contagion: Incarnation Cross Meaning
Gates 14 and 8 do not belong to one cross alone. In the first variant of the Right Angle Cross of Contagion they make up the Design pair, and the Left Angle Cross of Revolution places the same two gates in its Design as well, with different gates on the Personality side. That overlap makes Contagion easiest to grasp by comparison: shared ingredients, a different arrangement, a different angle. One reading is that the pair, Power Skills and Contribution, supplies an unconscious background in both crosses, while the conscious foreground and the angle separate them.
Contagion and Revolution on the same two gates
The first variant of Contagion is written 30/29 | 14/8: Personality Sun in gate 30, Personality Earth in gate 29, Design Sun in gate 14, Design Earth in gate 8. The Left Angle Cross of Revolution is 49/4 | 14/8, so its Design pair is identical and only the Personality pair changes, to gates 49 and 4. The overlap is real but partial, because Revolution never moves the shared gates to the conscious side, while two Contagion variants do.
Revolution's second variant, 4/49 | 8/14, turns the pair around, and so does the third variant of Contagion, 29/30 | 8/14. The Sun windows differ, though: Revolution falls about February 7 to 13 and August 11 to 17, close to Contagion's windows without matching them.
Recognition of Feelings meets Saying Yes
Gate 30, Recognition of Feelings, sits in the Solar Plexus and is one end of the channel 30-41, Recognition. Gate 29, Saying Yes, sits in the Sacral and is one end of 29-46, Discovery. In the first variant they are the conscious pair, the Sun and Earth positions that sit in the Personality. One reading sets the recognition of a feeling beside the act of committing to it, so that what is sensed and what is agreed to travel together.
Saying Yes ahead of Recognition of Feelings
In the third variant the order reverses: Saying Yes takes the Sun and Recognition of Feelings the Earth. The same two gates are in play, now as 29/30 | 8/14.
Power Skills and Contribution underneath
Gate 14 is Power Skills and sits in the Sacral, one end of the channel 2-14, Beat. Gate 8 is Contribution and sits in the Throat, one end of 1-8, Inspiration. When they form the Design pair, they describe the unconscious side of the theme. When they take the Personality positions, as in variants two and four, the same material becomes the conscious centre of the cross, and Recognition of Feelings and Saying Yes drop into the Design.
Gate 8 takes the Sun about May 15 to 21 in Contagion 2, and gate 14 takes it about November 16 to 22 in Contagion 4. In both, the Design carries Recognition of Feelings and Saying Yes, gates 30 and 29, as the unconscious pair.
Contagion in the chart: Sacral twice
Between them the four gates touch the Solar Plexus, the Throat and the Sacral twice, once through gate 29 and once through gate 14. A single gate never defines a centre or a type, though; only a complete channel does, and none of the partner gates 41, 46, 2 or 1 is in the cross.
Each missing partner would link a different pair of centres. Recognition, 30-41, would join the Solar Plexus to the Root, and Discovery, 29-46, the Sacral to the G centre. Beat, 2-14, would join the G centre to the Sacral, and Inspiration, 1-8, the G centre to the Throat.
So the two Sacral gates give the cross a foothold in a motor centre without defining it. Which centres are actually defined depends on the rest of the chart, and the centre names here describe the neighbourhood each gate belongs to, not how your energy works.
Two crosses can borrow the same pair of gates and still be different crosses. Which positions the gates occupy, and which angle the cross belongs to, decide which one you carry.
Four Design arrangements that look alike
Contagion 1 (30/29 | 14/8) and Contagion 3 (29/30 | 8/14) hold gates 14 and 8 in the Design, as 14/8 and 8/14. Revolution does the same in its first variant, 49/4 | 14/8, and its second, 4/49 | 8/14. In Contagion 2 (8/14 | 30/29) and Contagion 4 (14/8 | 29/30) the pair moves to the Personality and the Design carries 30 and 29.
That makes four Design arrangements that look alike on paper: two from Contagion and two from Revolution. Only the Personality pair and the angle say which cross it is.
Revolution's Personality pair is always 49/4 or 4/49, while Contagion's Personality pair is 30/29, 8/14, 29/30 or 14/8. No Contagion variant puts gates 49 or 4 anywhere in the cross.

What makes Contagion different from Revolution if they share gates?
The Personality side and the angle differ. Contagion's first variant holds gates 30 and 29 in the Personality and is a Right Angle cross with four variants. Revolution holds gates 49 and 4 there and is a Left Angle cross with two. The shared pair, 14 and 8, is the same, but it sits among different gates.
What tells me which Contagion variant I have?
The variant is named by the Personality Sun gate: gate 30 about February 13 to 18, gate 8 about May 15 to 21, gate 29 about August 17 to 23 and gate 14 about November 16 to 22. A birth date only suggests it, because other crosses use the same Sun gates. Check the cross line on your bodygraph.
Are the two crosses ever the same cross?
No. They are separate crosses in the catalogue, with different angles and different Personality gates. They overlap on gates 14 and 8, which share the Design side in the first and third Contagion variants. The overlap is a useful point of comparison, but a chart shows one of them or neither, never both.
Where do gates 14 and 8 appear in the Contagion variants?
