Right Angle Cross of Planning: Incarnation Cross Meaning

5 min read
An equal-armed cross of four glowing points on a faint mandala wheel, two arms drawn slightly brighter than the others.

Two crosses can open with the very same Sun and still be different crosses. The Right Angle Cross of Planning starts, in its first variant, with the Personality Sun in gate 37, Friendship, and the Personality Earth in gate 40, Aloneness. The Left Angle Cross of Migration begins in exactly the same way. What separates them is the Design side: Planning closes with gates 9 and 16, Migration with gates 5 and 35. As a Right Angle cross, Planning belongs to personal destiny and to profiles 1/3 through 4/6, so it is the Design pair and the profile, not the Sun, that settle which cross a person actually carries.

Planning beside Migration: one Sun, two Designs

The first variant of Planning is 37/40 | 9/16, with a Personality Sun around February 24 to March 1. The first variant of Migration is 37/40 | 5/35, with the same Sun window. The same holds in the Sun-in-40 variants: Planning has 40/37 | 16/9, Migration has 40/37 | 35/5. Two crosses therefore share both Personality gates and differ only in the pair held by the Design Sun and Earth. On a birthday alone they cannot be told apart, and a Sun in gate 37 or 40 is only a first step toward either one.

The 37-40 channel Planning always completes

Gates 37 and 40 are opposite each other on the wheel, and they are the two ends of the 37-40 Community channel. In every variant of Planning, one side of the cross, Personality or Design, activates both of them, so the channel is switched on by the Sun and Earth alone. Friendship sits in the Solar Plexus and Aloneness in the Heart centre, so the channel joins an emotional gate to a Heart gate and defines both centres. That is a fixed feature of the cross: whichever variant a person has, the Community channel is complete, and Planning never leaves it to the rest of the chart to supply. One reading takes the shared pair as the ground that both crosses stand on.

Focus and Skills: what makes it Planning

Gate 9, Focus, sits in the Sacral and gate 16, Skills, in the Throat. Together they describe the part of the theme that Planning adds to the shared pair: a narrowing of attention onto one thing, and the practice of getting good at it. One way to see it is that the community gates provide the people and this pair provides the craft that is worked at alongside them. In the first variant this pair is the Design side, the unconscious half of the theme.

Gates 5 and 35: the Migration pair

Migration replaces gates 9 and 16 with gate 5, Fixed Rhythms, in the Sacral and gate 35, Change, in the Throat. The centres involved are the same two, Sacral and Throat, but the character of the pair is different: one reading sets keeping a routine beside moving on, where Focus and Skills narrow attention. Gate 5 is one end of the channel 5-15, Rhythm, and gate 35 one end of 35-36, Transitoriness, and neither partner is in the cross, just as 9 and 16 lack theirs in Planning. Seeing the two crosses side by side makes clear that the community pair is only half of the story, and that the other half is what steers it.

Planning (37/40 | 9/16) and Migration (37/40 | 5/35) share both Personality gates. Only the Design pair differs.

Two crosses, two angle families

Planning is a Right Angle cross, read as personal destiny, with four variants and profiles from 1/3 to 4/6. Migration is a Left Angle cross, read as transpersonal karma, with two variants and profiles 5/1 to 6/3. Between them the two crosses use six different gates: 37, 40, 9, 16, 5 and 35, with 37 and 40 shared. A person with a Sun in gate 37 and a Design pair of 9/16 is on Planning; the same Sun with 5/35 is on Migration. The profile has to fit as well, which is why the Design Sun and Earth and the profile are checked before the name is given.

Which gate leads Planning round the year

The four variants move the emphasis. A Sun in gate 16, around May 27 to June 1, puts Skills in front; gate 40, around August 29 to September 3, puts Aloneness in front; gate 9, around November 27 to December 3, puts Focus in front, and the dates shift by a day from year to year. Gate 9 reaches for gate 52 in the channel Concentration and gate 16 for gate 48 in Waves of Talent, but neither partner is part of the cross, so those channels depend on the rest of the chart.

Frequently Asked Questions

How different is Planning from the Left Angle Cross of Migration?

They share the Personality gates 37 and 40 and the same Sun windows, but Planning has gates 9 and 16 on the Design side where Migration has 5 and 35. Planning is a Right Angle cross with four variants; Migration is a Left Angle cross with two.

Does every Sun in gate 37 or 40 mean Planning?

No. The Sun gate narrows the choice to three crosses: Planning, Migration and a Juxtaposition cross. The Design pair and profile settle which; 9/16 means Planning, 5/35 means Migration, and a Right Angle profile from 1/3 to 4/6 has to fit. A calculated chart with the Design Sun and Earth confirms which of the three applies.

Where does the Planning cross put the Sun in the first variant?

In gate 37, Friendship, with the Personality Earth in gate 40. The full quartet is 37/40 | 9/16, and the Sun is in gate 37 from about February 24 to March 1. The date can vary by about a day from one year to the next, so check a chart rather than the calendar alone.

What usually decides between a Right Angle and a Left Angle cross?

The Design gates and the profile. Right Angle crosses go with profiles 1/3 through 4/6 and Left Angle crosses with profiles 5/1 to 6/3. Two crosses can look alike through the Personality gates, which is why the Design Sun and Earth are read before any cross is named.
