Right Angle Cross of Maya: Incarnation Cross Meaning

5 min read
An equal-armed cross of four glowing points on a faint mandala wheel, a veil of soft haze drifting across two of the points.

Gate 61, Inner Truth, faces gate 62, Detail, across the wheel: one is in the Head, the pressure centre for questions, and the other is in the Throat, the centre of expression. Together with gate 42, Growth, and gate 32, Continuity, they make up the Right Angle Cross of Maya. The word maya has a separate meaning in Indian philosophy, where it points to appearance, and nothing in the four gates says why the name was chosen. This page reads the cross through its gates, as a theme about how inner inquiry meets outward detail, and follows where each gate lands in the four variants.

A Head gate facing a Throat gate

Gate 61, Inner Truth, is the Head gate that carries the pressure to know. It is one end of the channel 24-61, Awareness. Gate 62, Detail, is a Throat gate, one end of 17-62, Acceptance. They are opposites on the wheel, so the Sun and Earth always take one each.

That makes the Maya axis a meeting between inner pressure and outer description. As interpretation, one gate wants to understand something fundamental, and the other wants to name its particulars precisely. Neither gate defines its centre without a channel partner, and the cross contains neither partner.

Head and Throat on the conscious or unconscious side

In Maya 2 (62/61 | 42/32), the Personality Sun is in the Throat gate 62, about July 13 to 19, and the Personality Earth is in the Head gate 61. In Maya 4 (61/62 | 32/42), the Sun is in the Head gate 61, about January 10 to 16, and the Earth is in the Throat gate 62.

In Maya (42/32 | 61/62) and Maya 3 (32/42 | 62/61), the 61 and 62 pair is on the Design side, so the Head and Throat gates are the unconscious pair and the conscious Sun and Earth are Growth and Continuity. Those two variants begin with the Sun about April 10 to 16 and October 14 to 19. Dates can vary by about a day from one year to the next, and the Design side completes the quartet.

On the Design side, Maya holds 61/62, Maya 2 holds 42/32, Maya 3 holds 62/61 and Maya 4 holds 32/42. In every variant the Head and Throat pair and the Sacral and Spleen pair split between the Personality and the Design.

Growth and continuity beneath the veil

Gate 42, Growth, is a Sacral gate and one end of the channel 42-53, Maturation. Gate 32, Continuity, is a Spleen gate and one end of 32-54, Transformation. They are wheel opposites as well. Together they give the cross a quieter axis about what continues, what ends and what lasts long enough to mature.

Seeing and telling against what lasts

Against a Head-and-Throat axis about seeing and telling, Growth and Continuity can read as the question of what is built once the seeing is done. It is a suggestion built from gate names, and a person with Maya need not feel any of it in those terms.

Of the four gate names, Inner Truth and Detail sit at the Head and Throat ends of the cross, while Growth and Continuity sit at the Sacral and Spleen ends.

What the gates say about the name

A name like Maya can tempt a reader into taking the cross as illusion or deception. The gates do not say that. They describe inquiry, expression, growth and continuity, and the name is better treated as a metaphor for how appearances and substance relate. The Head and Throat pair is the closest the quartet comes to that idea, since one gate asks what is true and the other describes how it looks.

Four partners outside the cross

The channel partners of Maya's gates are 24, 17, 53 and 54, and none of them is in the cross. So the Head, Throat, Sacral and Spleen are all touched by a Maya gate, yet no centre is defined by the cross alone. If a chart supplies one of those partners elsewhere, the channel is complete and the centre is defined, but that comes from the rest of the bodygraph and not from the cross.

Each partner would link a different pair of centres. Awareness, 24-61, would join the Head to the Ajna, and Acceptance, 17-62, the Ajna to the Throat. Maturation, 42-53, would join the Sacral to the Root, and Transformation, 32-54, the Spleen to the Root.

As a Right Angle cross, Maya goes with profiles 1/3 through 4/6 and is described as personal destiny. That framing is the system's own label for the angle, and it says nothing about which of the four variants a person carries.

Both pairs sit across the wheel from each other: the Head and Throat gates, and the Sacral and Spleen gates.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which Maya variant puts the Sun in the Head?

Maya 4, written 61/62 | 32/42, has the Personality Sun in the Head gate 61, about January 10 to 16. The Personality Earth is in the Throat gate 62. A birth date in that window is only a first clue, because the Design gates have to match too, and a calculated chart confirms it.

In which Maya crosses is the 61 and 62 pair unconscious?

In Maya (42/32 | 61/62) and Maya 3 (32/42 | 62/61) gates 61 and 62 sit on the Design side. The conscious Sun and Earth are then Growth and Continuity, and the Head and Throat gates act as the unconscious pair. In Maya 2 and Maya 4 the pair is conscious, in the Personality positions.

Why do gates 61 and 62 appear together?

Because they are opposites on the Rave Mandala, and a cross always pairs each Sun gate with its opposite for the Earth. When the Personality Sun falls in 61, the Personality Earth falls in 62, and the reverse. The pairing comes from the wheel's geometry and not from any link between the two gates.

Should the name Maya be taken as illusion?

Only as a metaphor, if at all. The gates behind the cross are Growth, Continuity, Inner Truth and Detail, and none of them says anything about deception. The name can invite reflection on the difference between appearance and substance, but it makes no claim that anything in a person's life is false.
